“With the help of Dudley Poston, Jr. and colleagues at Jilin Uni-versity, I was able to conduct a survey of 1460 schoolchildren inJilin Province, in northeastern China. The survey included itemsabout the household structure, the preschool caretaker, and charac-teristics of the grandparents, such as their educational attainmentand the frequency of their contact with their grandchildren.” (p. 370)
