Abstract
There is robust evidence that the health, wealth and wellbeing of individuals and families are uniquely intertwined and vary significantly over time. In North Dakota, an upper Midwestern state in the Great Plains Region of the United States, meaningful shifts are occurring across the landscape in the demographic profile of its inhabitants, family patterns, educational and economic trends, investments in caring for young children and seniors, healthy and secure food and housing systems, overall and specific health-related challenges, youth development and wellbeing, and supports for diverse individuals and populations that are evolving. This profile highlights the changes and challenges posed to the residents of North Dakota, the dynamic and resilient responses of their families and communities, and the emerging patterns that will shape the state into its future.
