What does a 16-hour writing commitment mean?
Our writing retreat structure protects your writing time so you can actually write. Our process ensures that you have all the necessities needed (a dedicated writing space in each apartment, coffee, water, snacks, and meals) to make writing the priority. From the moment you check in, to the moment you check out, we will help cultivate an environment that commits to providing at least 16 hours of uninterrupted writing time distributed across structured blocks.
What will my days look like during the writing retreat to ensure that I have at least 16 hours of uninterrupted writing time?
Through careful research and our own participation in various writing retreats, we found that not enough time was given to actually write. As a result, we wanted to create a structure that not only prioritized writing but also protected your writing time. Our carefully curated schedule minimizes disruptions and ensures you have the necessary and dedicated time to write.

What type of feedback will be provided to me?
Each participant will receive feedback from one editor and from the other writing retreat participants. Participants will submit a draft of their most recent paper as well as an extended abstract. The paper draft will be reviewed by an editor, with the extended abstracts being shared with other participants for an additional review and feedback. Editorial feedback will be provided ahead of participants’ arrival to the writing retreat. During the curated dinners, the abstract feedback from other writing participants will be discussed collectively. Each participant will have their work discussed with others at one of the two curated dinners (approximately 30-45 minutes of discussion for each project).
How does the program measure effectiveness?
Each participant will be asked to complete pre- and post-retreat feedback forms. This allows project directors and participants to 1) set writing intentions/goals and 2) to see and reflect on the progress made during the writing retreat. Project directors also plan to use these feedback forms to continuously improve on the writing retreat experience for future writing cohorts.
How do I reserve my spot for a writing retreat?
Registering for a spot is easy. Click on the link and fill out the registration form. There are only four slots available for each cohort, this ensures a more intimate and individualized writing retreat experience for participants. After registering, project directors will be in touch with additional information.
What is the payment and cancellation policy?
A $500 non-refundable deposit is required at booking to secure your unit. The remaining $1,500 balance is due 60 days prior to the retreat start date. Cancellations made 60+ days prior receive a full refund minus the deposit. Due to pre-committed housing and editorial resource allocation, late cancellations within 60 days are non-refundable unless your slot can be filled from a waitlist.
